With the opening of Tykeson Hall at OSU-Cascades, the state of Oregon has its first new four-year university campus in more than 50 years. Thank you for all you did to make this historic development possible!
"This has been a long time coming for Central Oregon," said Gov. Kate Brown at the Sept. 13 grand opening celebration. It’s good news – not just for local students, she said, but for businesses and industries looking for highly qualified workers necessary to keep the economy humming.
OSU-Cascades' expansion was made possible through the advocacy and generosity of thousands of supporters. Special thanks goes to the Tykeson family, who provided critical funding for the campus development.
At the grand opening, Amy Tykeson noted that members of her family are loyal to University of Oregon, but a four-year university was Central Oregon’s "missing ingredient" – one essential for the region’s future. "Green, yellow, orange, or black – all colors can agree on the importance of education," she said.
