Destination OSU 2017

Destination OSU 2017 gathered alumni and friends in Dana Point, California, on March 2-3 to celebrate Oregon State University’s growing impact and honor four outstanding volunteer leaders. The online photo album highlights the awards gala as well as an OSU Athletics event with former student-athletes. 

2017 Award Winners

Jo Anne J. Trow

Dan Poling Service Award presented by the OSU Alumni Association

In three decades at OSU, Vice Provost Emeritus Jo Anne Trow served in leadership positions including vice president of student affairs, associate dean of students, and dean of women. She led efforts to address inequalities faced by women, helping to establish the OSU Women’s Center and the Faculty Women’s Network. Since her retirement in 1995 Jo Anne has been active in many community and university organizations, including serving as president at the OSU Folk Club, the OSU Thrift Shop, and OSU Retirement Association. She also is working to fund a new Corvallis museum to exhibit the former OSU Horner Museum collection. Jo Anne and her husband, Cliff Trow, have supported the Presidential Scholars program since its inception. They are members of the James H. Jensen Society. Jo Anne will receive her award at the OSUAA Spring Awards Celebration on April 21.

Marian C. & Stephen M. Bailey ’70

Martin Chaves Lifetime Achievement Award presented by OSU Athletics

Athletics is a central part of life for Steve and Marian Bailey, from OSU to lifestyle activities and the sports of their daughters, spouses, and grandchildren. Their OSU memories stretch back from Terry Baker to last year’s women’s basketball Final Four. They generously contributed to the Valley Football Center renovation and OSU Basketball Center. The Baileys also are strong supporters of OSU and the College of Business. The retired senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer at FLIR Systems, Inc., Steve is an OSU Foundation Trustee and a founding member of the Oregon Wine Research Institute. The Baileys were founding partners in Grand Cru Estates and the Bailey Estate Vineyards. They are members of the Milton Harris Society.

Larry M. Giustina ’71

Lifetime Trustee Award Presented by the OSU Foundation

Larry Giustina has carried on both the timber company established by his late father, Natale “Nat” Giustina, and the family tradition of commitment to Oregon State University. His service to OSU is extraordinary, spanning more than 30 consecutive years on many leadership boards. This service began with the OSU Alumni Association, where he served as president. Larry served on the OSU Foundation Board of Trustees from 1993 to 2008, including a term as chair, and continues to provide invaluable counsel on foundation initiatives. He is currently board chair for the Trysting Tree Golf Club, established through the volunteer leadership of his father. Larry and his wife, Carolyn Keen Giustina ’71, generously support OSU faculty and scholarships. They are members of the Milton Harris Society.
